Amazon charges FBA fulfilment fees in size tiers (e.g. Small Standard, Large Standard, Oversize). Your product's longest side, median side, shortest side and weight together decide the tier, and each tier has a fixed fee. Because the tiers are step changes, a single extra centimetre or a few grams can push you into the next tier and noticeably raise your per-unit fee. GoatPaca shows the exact tier your dimensions land in and how much headroom you have before the next one.
Carriers and Amazon charge on whichever is greater: the product's real weight or its dimensional weight (a volume-based figure derived from length × width × height). Light but bulky products — think pillows or empty containers — are usually billed on dimensional weight, so shrinking the box matters more than shaving grams. GoatPaca compares both so you can see which one is driving your cost.
GoatPaca runs a 3D bin-packing calculation: it fits your units into a master carton, stacks cartons onto a pallet, and loads pallets (or loose cartons) into a 20ft or 40ft container. You get the counts at every stage plus a live 3D view, so you can see the packing efficiency and the wasted 'air' before you commit to an order.
Often a lot. A slightly larger box means fewer units per carton, fewer cartons per pallet, and fewer pallets per container — so the fixed freight cost is spread over fewer units, and you may also jump an FBA size tier. GoatPaca lets you change the dimensions and instantly see the knock-on effect on units-per-container, FBA tier and per-unit cost, which is the fastest way to spot 'shipping air'.
Smaller tiers (Small Standard, then Large Standard) are cheaper per unit than Oversize. The goal is to keep your packaged product just under the dimension and weight limits of the tier you want. GoatPaca shows the limits of your current tier and the next tier up and down, so you can design packaging that stays on the cheap side of the cliff edge.
Landed cost combines manufacturing, freight (how many units actually fit in your shipment), and Amazon's FBA fulfilment, referral and storage fees. Because all of these depend on size and weight, GoatPaca ties them together: enter your dimensions, weight and sale price and it surfaces the FBA fees and packing-driven freight per unit so you can judge the real margin before ordering in bulk.
Yes. It covers Amazon's US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Canada and Brazil marketplaces, each with its own FBA fee structure and currency — so you can compare the cost ramifications of the same product across regions.
Start with the product's size, weight and target sale price. GoatPaca shows the FBA tier and fees, how efficiently it packs into cartons, pallets and containers, and the resulting per-unit cost. If a product ships mostly air or sits in an expensive Oversize tier, you'll see it immediately — before spending money on inventory.
